HI All… miss you

I have been absent for a long period. During that time I have done some work. Little ones, and my style have changed a bit. I have participated in some art shows and a few art fairs. I want to say that I have been super busy creating and doing all kind of creative activities, but that’s not the case. So far I have manage to accommodate a space where I can rarely work. Or I cook for the family or I paint. Sad for my creative side but that’s what it is. I have force myself to participate in some art fairs so that will force me to paint more and in a short period of time, that way I can continue creating and don’t let it go totally. Here is one I made to donate for an event that happened yesterday in my community. Everything about cats. The “9th Alley Cat Art Walk” Its the first time I participate. They gave us the cat shape canvas and we painted what we wanted. This is what I end up with.

UPDATE: I won second place. I had no idea it will prize. I was very happy!

I wish I have been here often…

I hardly remember when I came here and post, (i Guess my blog will tell me if I look at my last post… taaah) Even though I want to create and share as much as I can, it seems that life just gets in the way. I enjoy creating, but when I do start a next project, something happen that I can not continue or finish. I think my creative block has been with me for a long time. I have been creating during my long absence here, but I still fell stuck somehow. I will share with you some of those works and the few things I did, also my new ones. This one is from a game I created inspired by another game I found in Pinterest, I just put my drawing ideas for the process, but the game was from someone I saw there.

pieces of scrap wood

I have been enjoying creating pieces on scrap wood. They are rough and I think that’s why I like them. I don’t sand them, just add gesso and color over them. Here is the final result of a painting I did on October last year. I sold it, but I never published pictures of the end result.

It was painted with gold gesso, using acrylic paint and markers and varnished at the end.

Next one, is a gift I gave to my son’s other teacher. His English teacher. She is a sweetheart and excellent teacher. The tittle is “The garden of knowledge of Miss Yanga”in English. In spanish says “El jardín de conocimientos de Miss Yanga”

Adding black gesso…

Just arriving from a long trip. We visited family. My old town it is HOT !! It’s amazing how easy we get used to a better weather. I remember growing up with out air conditioner and doing everything, playing outside, having fun and at night just getting our clothes wet to try to sleep, or sleeping outside in the hottest days and we survived. Now, I just want to stay inside the cold air. The more comfort we have with all these new inventions, the least we want to try the old way and we can’t even imagine living with out them. We are spoiled 😉

In other note, I have a lot of brown and thick card stock paper and I have been adding black gesso and painting on them with paint markers, acrylic markers and Gelly rolls pens. I like what have come out of them. Here a few images.

The first is an attempt I did (before I started my calligraphy class) to make my family do the dishes after themselves. It worked just two days. Mmmh…

It says: “Please clean after yourself. Help keep this kitchen clean. Love Mom. HAPPY mom, HAPPY family”. It was more for my husband 😉 Even though, I always try to make my kids do their dishes it’s always a constant battle. Now they are 10 and 8 and they can perfectly help. I just give them the plastic dishes. Anyway, I’ll keep trying.

The next one, I gave it to my sister in law during Christmas. I did not wanted to give her just a gift certificate, that’s why I added my flowers. But I don’t know if she liked it. She has other style.

Rueda de opciones

In my child class, as many other classes, there is always the moment when one kid gets frustrated and the teacher has to deal with the situation. My child and several other kids could be a bit on that side. His teacher asked me if I could do a spinning wheel for the classroom on a cardboard where the kids would have options that would help them calm down. He gave me several ideas to put in the spinning wheel and I added two, because I put extra space on it (my bad). Later on, I thought it will be better to make him something more durable so I decided to give the teacher something he could be able to use as long as he teaches. I had at home a lazy susan that for many years had been collecting dust, and that is what I used. My son was so proud to give it to him.

long story short & tutorial

Many years ago, I had a blog named Nora Clemens-Gallo it was at blogger. You know, the one that ends up “atblogspot.com”, anyway, I cancelled my account because I was having issues with it and I had so many spams that made me feel uncomfortable. After a while I thought I would activate it again so I went to do it, but to my surprise It was taken. My name did not belong to me anymore at blogspot. I went and found old comments I made on some blogs and some things I posted at pinterest with my old blog, and oh surprise again, It took me to a blog I did not recognized, but it was using my links and my name of course. That made me sad and a bit frustrated, no longer I can have my name at blogger. That’s when I decided to start another, and THIS is the one. I have found it a bit difficult to do many creative things on my site, but so far it has been very good. You may ask, why is she telling us this? Well it’s because I was browsing pinterest and I found an old tutorial of some doodles I did long ago trough my old blog and I wanted to put it back on my new one and for you to be able to see it, also because if you find it on pinterest and click at it you wont be able to find it. Now, here you will have again my tutorial and a new (old) doodle paint that you haven’t seen yet. So if you want to try this easy tutorial, here is what you will need.

MATERIALS: A canva (I used 8″x11″) a black fine point sharpie marker and acrylics of your favorite colors, water, brushes and your imagination.

1. Make some curvy lines across the canvas, and turn it and do more curvy lines.

2. Continue making lines and curvy lines until you are happy with it. Then start adding your favorite or easy drawing. (for me are doodles and flowers)

3. Keep going and filling the spaces base on your own ideas.

4. And here it’s my final result. That was the end of my last tutorial.

Later, after I posted this tutorial I started adding colors, and I did another that I think I have never show you.Time passed and my sister and nieces came to visit. My oldest niece was turning 16 at the time and she loved the paintings, so that was her present from me. At the end of this post you will see the two paintings (unfinished of course). The things she took were done. 😉

de regreso a tierras cercanas…

It’s been a while since I posted. I was on an “unplanned” vacations on central México with my parents and kids. We left on June 28 and arrived home on August 2nd. It was long, it was very exhausting (we drove from Mexicali, Baja California to Zacatecas, México. Stoping in different states to visit during a couple of days)… but it was beautiful and my kids got to know more about their mom’s culture. Anyway, before I left (in a hurry) my kids and I were working on some paintings. Some for them, to decorate their room and several for me. I haven’t use acrylics in a long time, and this was my return 😉 I left them like this:

…and today finally we went to Crest to paint. I took my kids, and my daughter continued working on hers. My boy just wanted to play legos. (that was good because he let us work). Here she is painting.

and finally here is mine. (WIP) Just makes me happy.
